Jon In Jerusalem

Next, we went to the Bet Gamal Monastery. This monastery was the first Christian monastery in the area after the Ottoman Empire. It was built on the site of a Fifth century Byzantine church. So, they built a replica of the church there. It was pretty cool. Here is a picture of it. Check out the ceiling. The monastery was supposed to close at 4:30. We got there at 5, and there was really no sign of them closing. It really is just a bunch of old guys hanging out. I liked it.

We ended the day at Abu Ghosh, an Arab village famous for its homous. It was a good day.

  • Jon,

The photo of the "old guys hanging out" is really neat. It could be anywhere that old guys hang out; KY, Centeral PA, Spain or Israel. For a photo effect try to borrow someone's polorizing sunglasses and put the NON prescription lens in front of your camera lens. It should really thrown the sky blue and make a difference in the trees and highlights as well. OK, this proves that I have a problem with needing to tweek photos. The polorizer is the ONLY filter that cannot be duplicated in PhotoShop.
